  • Alarm Bells Ringing? Limited Combustible Cable to the Rescue - Cabling Business Magazine, January 2003 (PDF 756 KB)

Summary: In the post 9/11 world, data cabling must provide fire protection as well as effecient data transfer. When Redundent Networks built a new data hosting operations center in Reno, NV, they decided on a raised floor design for housing communications cabling. Because of recent NFPA code changes, the local fire department and AHJ required an under-the-floor sprinkler system for CMP cabling. This was a costly addition that threatened to extend the facility's construction timetable. Instead, Redundant chose to use DataTwist 350 Limited Combustible cabling, which exceeds NFPA and NEC requirements for plenum spaces.
